Directions For Use:
- Clean area to be prepared with soap and water or Acetone to remove water soluble contaminants. Let dry. Clean with residue remover to remove silicone or wax
- Remove/grind all paint. Primer. Rust or gel coat by sanding with 3M 80 grit sandpaper or 3M 50 grit disc down to bare metal or fiberglass. When possible. both sides of the damaged area should be repaired for added strength. Depress or slightly bend in the edges of the solid metal inward
- Pre-cut pieces of Fiberglass Mat or Cloth to extend 2-3 inches beyond edge of damaged area to be repaired
- Mix resin as follows: Estimate amount of resin needed to completely saturate mat or cloth; Pour resin into clean container. DO NOT use waxed cup. Correct amount of liquid hardener is supplied with each can of Fiberglass Resin. For ? can of resin. use ? tube of hardener. When mixing small amounts use 8 to 10 drops of hardener per ounce of resin or ? teaspoon of hardener for 6 tablespoons of resin. Note: use push pin or thumbtack to open the hardener tube working life of mixed resin is approximately 8 to 12 minutes. Mix in small amounts; never mix hardener with entire resin can
- Brush a coat of the resin-hardener mixture on to the damaged area. extending 2-3 inches beyond the hole or crack
- Lay pre-cut cloth or mat over damaged area. Using a paint brush. apply the resin-hardener mixture to the fiberglass material. A dabbing motion will help to saturate the fiberglass and remove any air pockets
- Immediately place second piece of fiberglass material over the damaged area. following the same procedure; may require more than 2 pieces of fiberglass depending upon the size of the damaged area and strength needed. Follow same procedure if both sides are being repaired
- Allow material to cure. approximately 2 hours at 75?? F. Curing will take longer at colder temperatures. To speed curing. use a heat lamp at least 18 from repair for approximately 15 minutes. CRACKING CAN OCCUR IF OVERHEATED
- Sand repaired area with 3M 80 grit sandpaper. Clean area; apply thin coat of Body Filler to fill pin holes. if necessary
- Use 3M 80 grit 3M 180 grit sandpaper to finish and featheredge. Prime and paint per manufacturer’s recommendation
- Clean paint brush or tools with acetone while resin is wet
